Hotkeys
Control Ottex from anywhere with global keyboard shortcuts.
All hotkeys are fully customizable in Settings → Hotkeys.
Recording
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Toggle Recording | Start or stop voice recording. Press once to start, again to stop and transcribe. |
| Push-to-Talk | Hold to record, release to transcribe. Like a walkie-talkie. |
| Cancel Recording | Stop recording without transcribing. |
TipUse Push-to-Talk for quick messages and Toggle Recording for longer dictation sessions.
AI & Commands
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Command Mode | Transform selected text with voice commands. Select text → press hotkey → speak command. |
| Show Omnibar | Open the quick launcher. Search for AI shortcuts, snippets, and apps. |
Other

| Take Screenshot | Capture screen and open annotation editor. |
Setting Hotkeys
- 1Open Settings → Hotkeys
- 2Click on any hotkey field
- 3Press your desired key combination
- 4The hotkey is saved automatically
TipChoose hotkeys that don't conflict with your most-used apps. Modifier combinations like ⌥ + ⇧ + letter work well.
Workflow Examples
Quick Voice Message
Hold Push-to-Talk → speak → release
Fix Grammar in Selection
Select text → Command Mode → say "fix grammar"
Use AI Shortcut
Show Omnibar → type shortcut name → Enter
Long Dictation Session
Toggle Recording → speak → Toggle Recording again
